Dr. Veronica “V” Villanueva was raised in Albuquerque, NM, but her heart has always belonged to Southern California. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Neuroanatomy/Biomedical Sciences from Colorado State University, followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA.

After completing her DVM in 2011, Dr. Villanueva was selected for a competitive, AVMA-approved small animal emergency and surgical rotating internship at the Pet Emergency and Specialty Hospital in Thousand Oaks, CA. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for emergency medicine and exotic pet care. She later practiced in New Mexico for over eight years before returning to SoCal to provide compassionate, practical, and advanced veterinary care.

Her professional interests include emergency surgery, critical care, endocrine emergencies, wound management, pain control, diagnostic ultrasound, and mentoring new veterinarians. Dr. Villanueva is especially dedicated to senior and geriatric pets and deeply values the human–animal bond across all species.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Villanueva enjoys life with her husband Anthony, their children, and their beloved pets—Kiki (French Bulldog), Clementine (Pug), and Torkoal (Desert Tortoise). Her free time is spent enjoying music, hot yoga, fishing, and Major League Baseball.
